Guest Editors: Eportfolio Ireland
The Irish Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning is an open access, peer reviewed journal published by the Irish Learning Technology Association. The journal aims to publish a special issue exploring issues related to eportfolio in Ireland. We invite papers in this theme, meeting our normal author requirements. An eportfolio can be a tool or technology, a practice, a pedagogical model, an assessment method and a framework for learning (Chen & Black, 2010). There is growing interest in Ireland in the affordances of eportfolio and their potential to positively impact student learning and achievement (Farrell, Buckley, Donaldson, Uí Choistealbha, 2020). However, there is a dearth of empirical research on eportfolio practice in the context of the Irish educational system. In order to better appreciate Irish eportfolio practice and ground this in research, the Irish Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning seeks to gather a collection of papers to contribute to the understanding of eportfolio in Ireland. Papers might choose to explore the following themes:
- Case studies of eportfolio practice at primary, secondary, further and higher education level
- Emergent themes in eportfolio practice
- Explorations of eportfolio purposes: for assessment, for reflection, extra-curricular, placement, lifelong learning
- Critical perspectives on the application of eportfolio in education
- Student voices on eportfolio practice
- Educator perspectives on eportfolio practice
- Professional development to support eportfolio practice
Submissions should have a clear educational focus or application, and should go beyond anecdotes or opinion. We encourage historical analysis, rich case studies, and innovative analytic methods applied to literature, interviews and data. Contributors should take account of the journal guidelines for authors.
In response to the #Femedtech Open Letter to Editors, we particularly invite submissions from women researchers and the editorial team will support women authors with their submissions by ensuring that the revision and review timescales will be flexible.
Deadline for submission of extended 1 page abstract is July 31st 2020, with an intention to publish by November 2020. Please indicate that your paper is to be considered for the Special Collection when submitting.
To discuss your article prior to submission, please contact the guest editors. The submission deadline is July 31, 2020, but earlier submissions are welcome.
